The spectacular indoor – outdoor production and pie party, The Welcome Table is returning to the Buskirk-Chumley Theater on Saturday, February 20, after being introduced during the lotus festival in 2004. The Welcome Table is a feast of song, dance and light verse traversing the dark wonder of winter bursting into spring. Moira Smiley, Joshua Kartes and Malcolm Dalglish bring songs from a decade of collaboration on to the stage with vocal ensemble the Ooolites, percussive dancers, aerialists, dancing reindeer, a dozen bassoonists, Sam Bartlett's puppets and more.

“We’re so excited to have Malcom Dalgilsh’s Welcome Table project as special event in the first days of ArtsWeek 2010,” said Sherry Knighton-Schwandt, ArtsWeek organizer and director of communications and special projects for IU’s Office of the Vice Provost for Research. “Malcolm is widely known for his choral works celebrating the natural world. The multidisciplinary performance that he, Moira Smiley, and others have created for ArtsWeek is going to be a fabulous celebration of the midwinter season in our part of the world. The fact that the performance will end with a gathering at The Bloomington Banquet’ sculpture in the Farmer’s Market area is especially fitting with this year’s theme of Arts and the Environment.”

The show’s finale, Pie R Pie, is a flying food, doo-wopping clown chronicle of pie making that spills the crowd into the street and into a raucous vocal marching band along the new B-line Trail to the Farmer's Market where Bloomingfoods pie and warm libations will be served around a bonfire beneath the Dale Enoch’s The Bloomington Banquet.

The BCT Presents Season 2009-2010 is made possible by Bloomingfoods, Blue Ace Media, Bloom Magazine, Ivy Tech Community College, Markey’s Rental and Staging, Oliver Winery, Upland Brewing Company and with support from many community partners and businesses dedicated to the performing arts.

Please come down and join this wild event guaranteed to cure the midwinter blues! The tickets are sold at the BCT Box Office, 114 E Kirkwood Avenue, on the phone at 812 323 3020 and online on www.buskirkchumley.org
