"A Red Carpet Affair" Short Film Competition

The Buskirk-Chumley Theater presents an opportunity for a local filmmaker to win a rent-free use of the Theater. Filmmakers are invited to submit three-minute films on the subject of their choice and submissions will be screened as part of the second annual “A Red Carpet Affair” on February 22.

"A Red Carpet Affair" event is a celebration of film and will include a screening of the Academy Awards, film trivia, and classic film clips, in addition to the film competition. The audience will vote to determine the winning filmmaker, who will receive a rent-free use of the theater during the following summer.

Registration is due by January 15 and films must be submitted by 5pm on February 13. Only the first 10 filmmakers to register will be accepted. Announcing Iris DeMent

The Buskirk-Chumley Theater is pleased to present singer and songwriter Iris DeMent on Saturday, January 17th at 8:00 pm.

In 2012 Iris DeMent released a new album, Sing The Delta, sixteen years after her last album of mostly original material. Sing The Delta features twelve self-penned compositions from an artist whose first three albums established her as one of the most beloved and respected writers and singers in American music.

“I didn’t know when or if I’d make another record,” DeMent says. “I gave up on trying to steer it or force it and decided to just make myself available in my heart and mind as much as I could and leave the rest up to fate.”

The Buskirk-Chumley Theater is proud to present  An Evening with the Keb’ Mo’ Band on Tuesday, January 27 at 8pm. All tickets to this reserved seating event are $42. Three-time Grammy winner and visionary roots-music storyteller Keb’ Mo’ embarks on a new chapter in his career with his recent release of BLUESAmericana. His twelfth full-length album marks the 20th anniversary of his debut Keb’ Mo', but, more important, the disc is a signpost of artistic and personal growth.

Announcing John Hiatt Solo

The Buskirk-Chumley Theater is proud to present songwriting legend John Hiatt in a solo concert on November 24.

With a career spanning more than four decades and musical genres from blues to new wave, John Hiatt is one of the most influential singer-songwriters in American music. Originally from Indianapolis, Hiatt cut his teeth early as a Nashville hitmaker, starting work as a professional songwriter at 18 and achieving his first Top 40 hit when Three Dog Night recorded his tune “Sure As I’m Sitting Here” in 1974. Hiatt’s songs are widely covered by everyone from Bob Dylan to Iggy Pop, and in 2008, he received the Americana Music Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting.

The Buskirk-Chumley Theater is owned by the City of Bloomington and operated by BCT Management, Inc., a private non-profit organization.  The mission of BCT Management, Inc. is to develop the Buskirk-Chumley Theater as a high quality and widely accessible community resource and performance venue, operated in a fiscally responsible manner.  Support from the City of Bloomington, Indiana University, the Indiana Arts Commission, our many corporate sponsors and community donors  helps maintain this historic community resource and bring a wide diversity of programming to the stage each year.
