Within a year of their formation, Punch Brothers featuring Chris Thile (of Nickel Creek) are already playing to sold-out crowds across the US and embarking on their second recording project. Comprised of the young and blazingly talented musicians Chris Thile (mandolin), Gabe Witcher (fiddle), Chris Eldridge (guitar), Noam Pikelny (banjo), and Greg Garrison (bass), the new band has captured the attention of music lovers of all kinds, from bluegrass to classical, veteran to novice. Their first album, How to Grow a Woman from the Ground, was released in September 2006 to great critical acclaim and received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Country Instrumental Performance for the song “The Eleventh Reel.”
The Punch Brothers new album will hit the shelves February 28, 2008. The band signed with Nonesuch Records for this release and the new album will include (but not limited to) Thile’s four-movement composition, "The Blind Leaving the Blind," which the band performed at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall earlier this year
